What the data actually says.
DistrictIQ counts active listings, school catchments, condo buildings and development applications across Ontario. Insights is where we explain what those numbers mean, with the count shown and the judgement labelled as ours.
One city, many markets
A city has one median asking price and hundreds of school attendance boundaries. Measured inside the board-published boundaries, the gap between a city's cheapest and dearest catchment markets runs from just over 1× in the smallest markets we track to nearly 13× in Toronto. The six widest spans are written up below; all 37 markets that met the test are named in the method note.
Every Shortlist states the test a place had to meet to appear on it, and every figure resolves from current DistrictIQ data rather than being typed into the article. How each number is calculated is set out in our methodology, and where the underlying data comes from is set out in about the data.
